2017 GAIT Scholars

GAIT Scholars are young minority men who have excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven leadership abilities, distinction as an exceptional self-starter, and a clear trajectory for growth. These young men are selected for assistance in an opportunity for personal, academic, or career development on or near Capitol Hill. As a GAIT Scholar, he will have the opportunity to meet with successful black professionals who can encourage him to reach for his goals during his time in DC.

Jalen Wright was nominated and selected as a delegate to the Junior National Young Leaders conference on June 17-22, 2017, on Capitol Hill. This 12 year old from Oakland, California, was recognized by his teachers at Bret Hart Middle School as a student who has achieved academic excellence and possesses strong leadership potential. Jalen's desire is to become an aerospace engineer, designing the next generation of spacecrafts.
