2019 GAIT Scholar

GAIT Scholars are young minority men who have excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven leadership abilities, distinction as an exceptional self-starter, and a clear trajectory for growth. These young men are selected for assistance in an opportunity for personal, academic, or career development on or near Capitol Hill. As a GAIT Scholar, he will have the opportunity to meet with successful black professionals who can encourage him to reach for his goals during his time in DC.

Tyler Edgar is already a salient force and phenomenal communicator, The 16 year old senior from Glenn Burnie, Maryland, was recognized by his teacher and mentor at Pine Forge Academy as an awesome candidate for the GAIT Scholars program due to his determined mindset and strong leadership potential. Upon graduating from high school in the class of 2020, Tyler's desire is to become a criminal defense attorney to ensure justice is served to the generations who follow him. Based on his impressive interviews and shining personality, all the mentors he met on July 15, 2019, agreed that nothing will stop him from that goal.
