Legacy campaign
Between what would have been David's 40th birthday (on July 15, 2022) and the 10th anniversary of his passing (on February 18, 2023), GAIT is raising funds to create an endowment with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. The endowment will support internships for minority professionals on Capitol Hill.
Along with endowment funds, the Legacy Campaign will support GAIT's annual fundraising to provide the David Baldwin Barnes intern stipends for unpaid Black interns on Capitol Hill, who otherwise could not afford to take advantage of these opportunities. Lastly, funds will contribute to continuing the GAIT Summer Scholars program in 2023 with more scholars.
The GAIT Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
